Cyprus holiday weather
The weather in Cyprus is typically sunny, as it is located in the east of the Mediterranean, south of Turkey and north of Egypt, making it a great holiday destination. Because of its location, near to southwest Asia, it is one of the hottest parts of the Mediterranean, especially in midsummer.
The weather in Cyprus during the summer is dry and often long making Cyprus holidays blissfully sun-filled, and because of low pressure the skies are often completely cloudless, so keep yourself protected and drink plenty of water.
On summer Cyprus holidays you could experience up to 13 hours of sun a day. In winter months the weather in Cyprus is fairly mild and sometimes rainy, on average though, you can expect around 6 hours of sun a day. The autumn and spring periods are mild and often quite short.
The weather in Cyprus’ coastal regions such as Larnaca and Limassol, starts to warm up by late April and peaks in July, although the coast will not be as hot as inland, making Cyprus a great destination for a beach holiday.
The Mediterranean winds blow across the coast, particularly in the evenings making eating out in Cyprus a pleasurable experience, while all year is ideal for Cyprus holiday sightseeing and the long days great for those who enjoy water sports.
Inland there is little wind as the mountain ranges, Kyrenia in the north and the Troödos range in the south act as a barrier making weather in central Cyprus a lot warmer and intense. The Capital Nicosia and other inland cities experience scorching summers.
