Gibraltar Beaches
Gibraltar has six beaches around its shoreline, and of these four of them, Sandy Bay, Eastern Beach, the picturesque village of Catalan Bay, and Western Beach, are sandy.
A Gibraltar Holiday has the benefir of a delightful sub-tropical climate of pleasant winters, exquisite springs and shining summers make the beaches and nearby waterfront restaurants a popular attraction. A local street map will highlight where the beaches are situated.
Catalan Bay
A great Gibraltar Beach is the Catalan Bay, a rocky cove with a quiet beach, which was first settled by Genoese fishermen in the 18th century. A former fishing village, Catalan Bay has always offered an ideal vantage point and was considered a haven for Spaniards fleeing from Napoleon’s invasion of Spain in the 19th century. Today, it is a thriving beach resort.
Camp Bay and Little Bay
Two Gibraltar Beaches are unusual bays facing the Atlantic which have been fully developed as beach resorts and now include a series of interconnecting terraces providing easy access to the sea. At Camp Bay a small swimming pool has been set-aside for younger children, together with a summer cafe and changing room facilities.
