Gibraltar - Getting About

Getting about in Gibraltar being only 6km2, if you are mobile it is easiest to get around Gibraltar on foot. If you are either less mobile or prefer to take things easy, take a tour in one of Gibraltar’s white taxis. In order to get their license from the Gibraltar Taxi Authority, drivers have to take a test in the history of Gibraltar as well as places of interest, so taking one of these means you often get a tailored tour of only those sights you wish to visit. However, the standard tour includes visits to the Great Siege Tunnels, the Moorish Castle, St Michael's Cave, the Barbary Apes (monkeys) and Europa Point.

Gibraltar getting about is also well served by buses, with four main local bus routes in and around the town run by the Gibraltar Bus Company – look out for the 2, 3, 4 or 9, which are blue buses. All of these are relatively new vehicles and all have disabled access and provisions for buggies and prams. Route 10 is operated by Calypso Transport and goes to the Europort. These are red buses.
