Limassol, like many other areas of Cyprus is geared up for tourists. English is widely spoken and as an EU country Cyprus follows many of the standards you see in other parts of Europe. It is vital that EU citizens remember their E111 form or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) as you will be asked to present it in A&E departments and in doctor’s surgeries. Visitors to Cyprus generally don’t need to be vaccinated against infectious diseases. The Cyprus equivalent of 999 is 112.
Holidays in Limassol are considered very safe but there are a few things worth considering. When driving in Cyprus be sure to stick to the speed limit of 100km/h on the motorways, the use of mobile phones whilst driving and drink driving are both as strictly prohibited as they are in the UK. To rent a car you need to be over 25 or have been in possession of a licence for over three years. Public transport is good; frequent buses can cover airport transfers, trips within cities and journeys farther afield.
When shopping in Limassol you will use the Euro, with a bus ticket costing on average 1 Euro, a glass of beer 3-5 Euros and lunch or dinner anything between 10 and 20 Euros.
